    The Saint Sauveur Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Cathedral. The Cathedral has characteristics of both Romanesque and Gothic styles, due to the various alterations through the years. Like many cathedrals it's also quite dark and gloomy, but definitely worthwhile to visit. Especially the monastery with its many columns, just gorgeous!

    Pavillon de Vendôme

    Pavillon de Vendôme is a former hotel (17th century). You can find many portraits of the seventeenth and eighteenth century as well as Provencal furniture. Since 1990, there are also exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. There is a beautiful garden with various sculptures. You can sit down on a bench enjoying the view or have a picnic while the kids are playing.

    Caumont Centre d'Art

    On May 6th, 2015, Caumont Centre d'Art opened its doors: a new fully restored art centre located in the former Hôtel de Caumont. Enjoy the various exhibitions. There is a restaurant/café with a beautiful garden where you can sit down in peace, something you don't expect in the busy centre of Aix.

    Musée Granet

    Located in the former Palais de Malate since 1838 with art by Granet: he donated his entire private collection to his birth city. Enjoy the art Cézanne who had a studio in Aix at the time. The collection includes work from the fourteenth to the twentieth century of altogether about 300 paintings, drawings and sculptures by Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Degas and the great artists of the twentieth century such as Bonnard, Picasso, Braque, Dufy, Leger, Klee, de Staël and Dubuffet.

    Bastide du Jas de Bouffan

    This bastide was purchased in 1859 by the father of Paul Cézanne. The bastide remained in the family until 1899. During those 40 years, Paul Cézanne has been greatly inspired for his paintings. In the bastide, he painted his first major work: directly on the walls of the main hall on the ground floor. Lovers of Cézanne will really enjoy a visit to this bastide!

    Place d'Albertas

    This 18th-century square has so much charm! Surrounded by elegant Baroque and rococo buildings, the square was built in 1745 and designed in the style of the Royal squares in Paris for the Marquis d'Albertas. The square features a simple fountain which dates back to 1862. On the South side of the square is the Halle aux Grains (former grain market now post office) with a beautiful façade that was built between 1759 and 1761 and decorated with sculptures by Jean Pancrace Chastel.

    This is the famous main street of Aix and one of the liveliest streets of the city. Surrounded by old plane trees the Cours Mirabeau is the heart of the city, with many cafés, restaurants and boutiques. This bustling boulevard is the perfect place for a walk or to enjoy a lunch or coffee. Here you can also find the well-known restaurant Les Deux Garçons. This restaurant has been around since 1792 and honored with many famous customers such as Cézanne, Picasso, Piaf and Camus.

    Thee Provençal market of Apt is known for the lovely atmosphere, originality and durability: this market has existed for five centuries already. You'll find a divers collection of colors and scents, fresh and local seasonal products, offered by friendly market vendors. We recommend you to go early, parking can be difficult, especially later in the morning. Make use of the shuttle buses in July and August (from the parking lots at Avenue Victor Hugo and Avenue Vitron). Times on Sunday from 08.00 to 13.00.

    Le Colorado Provençal

    You will never forget a walk in Le Colorado Provençal! In this beautiful area you can enjoy walks in pine forests with countless bright yellow and sometimes vermilion red rocks, a beautiful colour contrast! This unique and protected area created by the mining of ochre from late 19th century until the mid 20th century. The ochre mining arose by the excavation of the earth, which resulted in this fascinating 'moon landscape'. There are walking and cycling routes along the most impressive rock formations.

    Ôkhra, Conservatoire des Ocres

    If you're interested in the industrial history of ochre and the change of the landscape of Roussillon, we recommend you to visit Ôkhra. This 'conservatoire' is located in the former ochre factory and is an interesting museum for young and old!

    Mines de Bruoux

    An exciting journey under the ground that show the lives of the people in the Pays d'Apt during the operation of the ochre mines. The museum is open every day from 1 april to 12 november from 10:00 am. During the mine tour the guide will show you the galleries, the workshop of the ochre miners in the years 1850-1950. The tour takes about 50 minutes and is fun and interesting for the whole family!

    Lourmarin summer music festival
