This unique and protected area created by the mining of ochre from late 19th century until the mid 20th century. The ochre mining arose by the excavation of the earth, which resulted in this fascinating 'moon landscape'. There are walking and cycling routes along the most impressive rock formations.

The ochre-coloured landscape in and around Roussillon is wonderful to see. Make the most of the surroundings by bike! There are several bicycle routes along the most beautiful places. The routes are running along quiet roads and are not difficult, easy for both young and old!

The former ochre mine of Roussillon now acts as 'Le Sentier des Ocres': the ochre path. There are two different hiking routes, one of 30 minutes and one of 60 minutes.
